This will be the status blog for my sailboat "SeaBreeze" (cool name, I know).
The purpose is to let anyone interested know the "sailability" status over the summer so they can decide if they want to come up for a sail or not :-)
Currently, the jib roller furling is messed up. The foils are not staying in place making it impossible to hoist a jib.
This will require a $2k investment to replace. Fixing is not worth the time and effort since the current model (~25 year old Hood SL?) never worked that well to begin with and is very hard to find parts for.
I plan to make this upgrade very soon since the main is blown out and I cant imagine sailing without a jib. Also, this is the summer to sail since I am working remotely from Duluth and I paid the $2200 for a slip. Got to take advantage of the situation.
Also need to fix on the sailing side of things is to re-attach the main-sheet winch and the sheet's mast entry to the mast. This might be more difficult than first assumed since I broke several screw heads off when removing those pieces of hardware. The remaining screws will have to be carefully extracted.
Second major must fix issue is a leaking fuel return line on the engine. It causes smoke once the engine gets warm. I'm pretty excited that this (and an exhaust hose that is kinked and leaks) is the only serious problem with the engine after it's overhaul last summer. Otherwise it starts and runs fine.
